TRANSPORT SEATING

TBA’s Fire Barriers are widely used in upholstered seating, especially in the rail industry but also in aircraft seating, bus and coach seating, public seating and mattresses.

They are non-combustible and produce low amounts of smoke and toxic fumes. Providing a barrier between the outer dress fabric and the foam, they prevent flame reaching the foam in the event of a fire. This gives passengers time to escape the vehicle (or other enclosed area) before the build-up of toxic, dense smoke from the foam, which would impede escape.

Wire is used as an anti-vandal, slash-resistant layer to protect the foam being exposed.

Our barriers are tested in manufacturers’ seats to the strictest European and International Standards to ensure that the combination of the seat design, the choice of foam, barrier and outer dress fabric perform as required by the application.

INU Products
An engineered blend of high performance, inherently flame-resistant fibres in needlefelt form, in varying weights, to provide the required characteristics.

INT Products
Needlefelt as above, but with FR cotton attached for increased wear-resistance and stability.

INF Products
Needlefelt, quilted with knitted wire mesh to provide some vandal resistance.

INFT Products
Needlefelt, with both FR cotton and knitted wire mesh attached.

FBGS240
A polymer coated woven fibreglass product, which produces very little smoke and toxic fumes in the event of a fire.

ANF702
2 layers of a higher para-aramid content felt sandwiching a layer of wire mesh.

FBEKA
An aluminised range of glass fabrics, developed for stringent fire tests with certain types of seat construction.

CUT PARTS SERVICE

Press-cutting equipment onsite allows TBA to offer the above barriers, cut to the desired shape and size for the particular seat in question. Providing the customer with a time-saving, economical solution.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

TBA manufactures a vast range of organic materials in woven and non-woven form, supplying manufacturers within the protective clothing fabrication industry.

Fabric is specifically produced to protect the end user from radiant heat, contact heat, molten metal splash and mechanical risk.

The product lines manufactured to serve this industry include aluminised fabrics, which are widely used to fabricate gloves, mitts, jackets, aprons, trousers; the list is endless.

These specialist fabrics are used to supply protective solutions to ensure safe-working in demanding environments throughout the world. Sectors include the steel industry, foundries, welding and fabrication, petro-chemicals, cement and emergency services.

PPE FABRICATION

We also offer an in-house bespoke fabrication service supplying high quality garments and goods to the protective clothing, fire protection and workwear industries within the UK and Europe.

The various woven, nonwoven and aluminised fabric styles manufactured by our High Performance Textiles Division are used alongside other specially outsourced materials. The specialist fabrics and materials are cut using precision methods and techniques from in-house patterns and programmable laser cutters. Finally the material is fabricated/sewn into the end-use product, resulting in a truly bespoke item.

CUT PARTS SERVICE

Whether supplied as fabric or finished products, TBA are typically involved with the customer to not only ensure the materials pass relevant safety standard, but also critically, that they are as comfortable as possible for the wearer, recognising that avoidance of uncomfortable fabrics and garments can in itself be a serious health & safety risk.

TBA has worked with a breadth of customers and end-users over many years to offer a level of knowledge and expertise that is invaluable to providing perfect PPE outcomes.

SPECIALIST APPLICATIONS

Products from TBA’s High Performance Textiles division are utilised in the most diverse range of applications by end-users and manufacturers alike. They are united by a requirement for the most advanced technical textiles to withstand the demanding conditions within that particular environment.

The ability to provide protection from heat, flame, spark and even violent attack, whilst at the same time being lightweight, flexible and comfortable is a challenging task, but one that we have an exceptional history of delivering on.

WELDING

A combination of in-house developed and manufactured textiles and high quality bought-in materials such as Brontoguard leather are used to supply a range of products to protect against welding risks, including; gauntlets, gloves, arm protection, aprons and welding blankets. Consideration is given to safety as well as dexterity and comfort.

POLICE AND ARMED FORCES

From a helmet chin strap to high visibility stab jackets, we have supplied materials that are used by personnel in these forces to help maintain their safety in the most extreme circumstances. Whether using proprietary products such as Kevlar® or textiles developed within TBA to meet specific performance requirements, comfort in long-term prolonged use remains critical alongside the obvious aspects of durability and safety

FOUNDRIES

Undoubtedly one of the most extreme environments to work in, even for very short periods of time. Our fabrics and garments perform at up to 1,000°c whilst also delivering protection from flash and spillage risks.

Long-term history of performance in use and a depth of technical understanding of their specific demands have kept many foundry customers both safe and loyal to TBA for many years.

FIREFIGHTING

Heat and flame protection are common characteristics to a wide range of TBA technical textiles, with materials used extensively in firefighting jackets, clothing and kit.

Beyond direct worker protection, our products have also been used to protect horses and as roll-down fire curtains to protect the crew inside the fire engine cab in extreme scenarios such as tackling bushfires.
